What attracted you to Truman?
I actually came to Truman without even seeing it first. Everyone I talked to about it made it sound really great. I heard the phrase "diamond in the rough" a lot.

What do you like best about Truman?
I like the atmosphere that students and professors provide. It’s challenging, competitive, but still a lot of fun.

What has surprised you about Truman?
I’m surprised at the variety of people that I have met. I feel like everyone I meet is from Missouri but they are all very different people, and I like that a lot.

What do you like most about your classes?
Most of my classes provide challenges and keep me interested. I have yet to have a professor that did not care about their students. I can tell they actually care about their classes.

What do you feel is unique about Truman?
Truman is one of the only colleges where you make your own fun. The town is small but with the classes, extracurricular activities, and the friends you meet, you are creative with the way you spend your time here.

How would you describe life at Truman to a friend?
All my friends are curious about what I cound find so compelling at Truman, a school out in the ’middle of nowhere.’ I tell them all that it’s the people. Both faculty and students are some of the nicest, most understanding people I have ever met. They really make college a positive experience.

What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to attend graduate school to pursue a career in the field of psychology. I’m not sure what exactly I want to do yet, but it will probably involve working with children.

What do you do for fun in Kirksville?
My friends and I like to goof around at the thrift stores, watch movies, and take road trips. Being in a small town, you really have to learn to make your own fun. Everyone’s in the same boat with you, so they’re also looking for something fun to do. I feel like everyone at Truman is pretty spontaneous because of that.
