Bethany Goldammer
What attracted you to Truman?I really liked the approach Truman takes to prepare future teachers. The 5 year undergrad/grad program allows me to study the field I love while learning how to teach.
What do you like best about Truman? The students and professors are so friendly and approachable.
What has surprised you about Truman?I was surprised at the wide variety of students there isn’t one particular "Truman student."
What do you like best about your classes?I like the interesting discussions that transpire in my classes--so many students are interested in many different fields.
What do you feel is unique about Truman? Truman’s academically challenging while the students and atmosphere on campus are laid back and very accepting.
How would you describe life at Truman to a friend? While my classes are demanding, I can always make time to do the things I enjoy. My professors know me personally and are very interested in my success--not just in their class.
Have you studied abroad? Not yet, but I’ll be studying abroad in Greece in the spring through the Missouri in Greece program.
What are some of your favorite things to do in Kirksville? There is always something to do on campus. YTruman organizations do a great job of bring in entertainers and planning events. I also like to go out to Thousand Hills State Park to walk or kayak.
What are your plans after graduation?I have one extra year in the MAE program and then I want to teach abroad at American schools.
Do you have any advice for students considering coming to Truman? Spend the night on campus before making your final decision. A tour is great but you get the real perspective of Truman when you spend time with the students.
